Who we are

Riley Ventures LLC, d/b/a Acme Studio (“being.cool,” “we,” “us”) provides the being.cool iOS app and this website at being.cool (together, the “Service”). being.cool is a product of Acme Studio. This Privacy Policy describes how we process personal information collected through the Service, the waitlist, marketing pages, and support channels.

being.cool is a self-development / wellness product. It is not a medical device and is not intended to collect health-diagnosis data. Reflections and practices you choose to record are treated as sensitive personal content, not as clinical records.

Notice at collection

In the last 12 months we collect the categories below for the purposes in “How we use information.” We do not sell personal information for money. Website analytics may constitute “sharing” or targeted advertising under some state laws when enabled. Retention: while your account or waitlist entry is active, then a limited backup / legal period.

Sources of personal information

We collect personal information from you (waitlist, account, practices, support), automatically from your device and browser, and from service providers that help us run the Service — including Apple (Sign in with Apple / App Store), RevenueCat (subscription status), hosting/auth, email, and analytics vendors when configured.

Personal information we collect

We collect what we need to run the site, waitlist, app, and subscriptions. Apple handles App Store checkout. We do not need government IDs or raw payment-card numbers.

  • Account and contact data: email (waitlist or Sign in with Apple), and any message you send to support, press, or legal.
  • Waitlist metadata: optional selected quality of being, UTM parameters, referrer, and signup source.
  • Profile and practice data: selected Beings, practice assignments, completions, skips, evidence you choose to log, and reflections or “I need to be…” text you type.
  • Internal check-ins: Starting Point / Being Check-in responses. These are product assessments, not validated clinical instruments.
  • Usage and device data: iOS version, device type, app version, language, crash logs, feature flags, and coarse location derived from IP (city/region) when analytics are enabled.
  • Transaction data: subscription status, product identifiers, and renewal state via RevenueCat / App Store. We do not store full payment card numbers.
  • Website analytics: pages viewed, CTA clicks, scroll depth, referrers, device/browser data, IP address, and user agent via Google Analytics (GA4) when configured on this marketing site. See the Cookie Notice.

AI and model providers

Some personalization, ranking, and practice-wording features may send text you provide (including reflections and “I need to be…” prompts) to infrastructure and large-language-model providers so we can generate or rank content for you.

We do not train our own models on your reflections without your explicit affirmative consent. Where a vendor contract lets us, we prohibit those providers from using your content to train their generalized models.

We do not send reflection free text, voice, or audio into marketing analytics.

Cookies and tracking

The marketing site may use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Notice at https://being.cool/cookies. Analytics load only when a Google Analytics ID is configured. We do not currently run Meta Pixel or session-replay tools on this site.

How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Deliver practices, Focus, evidence, weekly recap, widgets, and reminders.
  • Personalize which practices we show you.
  • Process subscriptions and restore purchases through Apple / RevenueCat.
  • Operate the waitlist and tell you when the app is available.
  • Communicate about the Service, security, and (with consent or as allowed) product updates.
  • Measure product quality, prevent abuse, and debug crashes.
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share information with processors who help us operate the Service, including Apple, RevenueCat, Supabase (hosting and auth), email, Google Analytics, and language-model / infrastructure vendors used for personalization.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect users, or in a merger or sale of the business, subject to this policy’s commitments.

Do not sell or share / targeted ads

We do not sell personal information for money. When website analytics are on, some state laws may treat that as “sharing” or targeted advertising. To opt out, email legal@being.cool from the address on your account or waitlist with subject “Do Not Sell or Share.” You can also use browser controls and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. See the Cookie Notice.

We do not use reflections or check-in answers for advertising. We do not currently have actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

Account deletion

You can delete your account in the iOS app (Settings / You). Deletion wipes server-side account data we control, local cache we can reach, and the auth user, subject to backups and legal holds.

Deleting the app or your being.cool account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel in Apple ID Settings. See Billing & Refunds.

Retention

We keep account, practice, and waitlist data for as long as the account or list entry is active, then for a limited period needed for backups, disputes, and legal obligations. You may request deletion as described above or by emailing us.

Your rights (U.S. state privacy notices)

Depending on where you live (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, and other comprehensive-privacy states), you may have the right to know, access, correct, delete, or port personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or certain profiling.

To exercise rights, email legal@being.cool from the address on your account or waitlist. We will verify your request and will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights. You may submit a request through an authorized agent by emailing us. If we deny a request, email us again to appeal.

Nevada residents may direct us not to sell covered information under NRS 603A by emailing legal@being.cool.

Children and minors

The Service is not directed at children under 13. You must meet the age stated in the Terms (currently 13+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

Security and transfers

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including limiting how client apps can read other users’ data. No method of transmission is perfectly secure. If we store or process data outside your country, we will use appropriate transfer mechanisms.

Updates and contact

We may update this policy. If changes are material, we will post a new effective date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Contact: legal@being.cool · Riley Ventures LLC, d/b/a Acme Studio · 1615 South Congress Avenue, Delray Beach, FL 33445.
